BT has been rolling out a new Digital Voice service in the UK, but it is not providing enough support for the Elderly. It has been replacing landline phones with new ones that require broadband, meaning that they might need broadband to make phone calls, which might not be available or easy to access in the area.

Incident edit
Overtime, BT has been making the switch to Digital Voice. However, many people have voiced their concerns over it on BT's forums, and many others not knowing about BT forums have lots of trouble switching to the service. Additionally, people trying to switch will need telephones (although telephones will be given to them for free if they give BT their old one). Additionally, if a power outage happens, you need a mobile phone to make calls, including 999 calls, which not all elderly people have.[1] However, BT have said if you call 150 they will supply you with one, but if an Elderly person has dimentia or something else that will not let them know they have a mobile phone, they could be confused and not be able to use it. There is a Here For You page delaying Digital Voice rollout if a person meets one of the conditions.[2] Construction work needs to be taking place as well, meaning that the Elderly will not be able to phone relatives.
