I use a RO water filter and wanted to bypass this filter in the fridge. The bypass even has an RFID on it. I think if you wanted to use generic brand filter maybe get the RFID from the bypass? The manual my fridge came with said that it should have come with the filter bypass and if it didnt I can call and get one for free.
