==Subnautica 2 releases int Early Access with very predatory EULA/TOS==
Subnautica 2 was released May 15th of 2026. Upon starting a game user is presented with Privacy Policy that bluntly admits to collecting everything they can about the user:

[https://subnautica.com/en/policy/privacy Sunbautica Privacy Policy]<blockquote> '''2. What Information Do We Collect'''

(...)

1) Identifiers such as, platform ID, nickname, name, IP address, email address, postal address, phone number, date of birth, gender, country of residence, language, nationality, etc.;

We use this data to operate and improve our Game and Services. Some of this information is collected through our use of cookies and related online tools/technologies. See our “Cookies and Related Technologies” section below for more information. </blockquote>

[https://subnautica.com/en/policy/tos Subnautica TOS] <blockquote>'''5. Ownership'''

The License confers to you no title or ownership in the Game, including any in-game items, the Documentation, or Services, and it should not be construed as a sale of any rights in the Game, the Documentation or Services.

You agree and acknowledge that all rights, title, and interest, including intellectual property rights in and connected with the Game, the Documentation and the Services and any and all copies thereof (including but not limited to any derivative works, titles, computer code, themes, objects, characters, character names, stories, dialogs, catch phrases, locations, concepts, artwork, graphics, animation, sounds, musical compositions, audio-visual effects, text, screen displays, methods of operation, moral rights, "applets" incorporated into the Game, and any related documentation) (the "Game IP"), are owned by Company or, as applicable, its licensors. We do not provide you with any interest in the Game IP and you hereby agree that you do not, and will not, claim any ownership rights in the Game IP. Except as expressly authorized by us in writing, you may not create works based on the Game IP or modify, distribute, or transmit the Game IP. If you do not abide by the requirements of this section, we shall own all right, title, and interest in any works incorporating the Game IP which are created, adapted, distributed, or transmitted, or, in the alternative, have an unlimited and irrevocable license thereto.</blockquote>

A particularly important piece of this basically boils down to;

"You can't make videos based on Subnautica 2 without our permission, and if you do, we own the content."

subnautica 2's first hotfix released yesterday (May 19) addresses (not really, more like saying they will address them) some of the concerns:

"
Enabled analytics only after accepting Terms of Service

Reduced the amount of data being sent to backend services

"

And,

"

As a reminder: analytics for Subnautica 2 can be turned off at any time from the settings menu.

Adjustments to the Terms of Service and a FAQ addressing concerns with the current version will be rolled out in the near future.
