After updating the OS to the latest release (ADM 5.1) will loose the following features:
*certain video formats will no longer be supported => video formats not specified
*updated libraries in ADM are not compatible with ffmpeg patches provided by Realtek. This affects NAS ASUSTOR NAS devices running Realtek CPUs. Which means hardware accelerated transcoding will no longer be supported after upgrading to ADM 5.0. Only video formats natively supported by the browser will remain playable while transcoding commonly used formats may not play properly.
*USB IP printer support will be discontinued
*components of the USB drivers will not be compatible with ADM 5.0. This means USB IP printer functionality, that is, connecting to a USB printer plugged into an ASUSTOR NAS through ASUSTOR Control Center will no longer be supported in ADM 5.0. Only network printer functionality will be available.

==Consumer-impact summary==
There was no indication on any website or on the packaging that this change had happened. The product retained the exact same model number after the panel change; the only indication of the panel change is in the service menu.

The user-reported inferior performance of the new panel, the lack of any indication of a change (except service menu), combined with the glowing reviews of the original monitor, has led some people to make the unsubstantiated claim that it's possible that ASUS may have kept the exact same model number to intentionally deceive consumers who read reviews and discourage reviews of the new panel. However, there is no direct evidence that ASUS deliberately intended to deceive the consumer or review sites.

On 23 Nov 2022, cmdrgod sounds the alarm about the panel change on blurbusters.com. He provides a comparison of service menus between his old VG259QM and the new one. He claims the new panel is much worse, and that ASUS support told him there was a shortage, and that this kind of switch is normal. <ref name=":0" />

On the previous page of the thread, user djexpert mentions that in Japan, the VG259QM was released as a "new" product in July 2022. His service menu shows an AUO panel.<ref name=":1" />

Due to the unfortunate incident of ASUS releasing two different products with identical model numbers, no one properly tested the AUO version, so there's no technical proof that the motion clarity is actually as bad as it appears to the human eye.

According to the company's FAQ,<ref name=":0" /> the reason for the new version is "the outdated technology stack" is simply impossible to fix.

While the company (InterPromo GMBH, the current company name used on the footer of the website) claims that updating the original 4K Video Downloader was "impossible" due to an outdated technology stack, this explanation lacks technical detail and may oversimplify the issue. In software development, very few features are truly impossible to implement—more often, they are deprioritized due to cost, complexity, or strategic business decisions. Without transparency about the specific limitations, it's reasonable to question whether the shift to a new app was driven more by monetization goals than technical necessity.

Additionally, a stack update (libraries, frameworks, etc.) would typically include minor UI/UX changes because of the underlying changes. Based on the visual appearance and menu behaviors of both applications, it's not clear a large-scale rewrite was performed as the applications are visually identical to one another.
