==Background==
Philips states on their website that "the Smart TV service for selected Philips TVs launched between 2009-2013 will no longer be available" <ref name=":0" />.

==Incident==
Philips turned off the Smart functionality of many models that have been sold between 2009 and 2013. The article states that :"technical reasons, including cyber security, along with all connected functionalities such as Smart TV apps, Smart TV dashboards, access to the Internet browser, etc" are to blame.

The website states that these models were not sold distributed within the United States of America, Mexico or Canada.

This reduces the now former Smart TVs to what is basically a display with input ports.
