===Chatmix proprietary software (''2022'')===
Many SteelSeries gaming headsets feature "Chatmix", a physical dial that allows the user to easily adjust the balance between game audio and voice chat. Headsets with the Chatmix feature traditionally presented their game and chat channels to the computer as two separate devices, allowing the user to assign the channels directly in the operating system and the audio chat software respectively.

Starting with the Arctis 7+ headset, Chatmix channels can only be configured by using SteelSeries GG, the manufacturer's proprietary software. The module of the software required for the Chatmix dial on the headset to work, is only accessible if the user is logged into a SteelSeries account.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Why the fuck do I need an account now to use sonar?
