I have discovered that At&t is locking their own branded phones from FirstNet. All banded at&t phone are suppose to take and work with a FirstNet sim card.

The short back story is that I bought a XT2515-3 aka moto g power 2025 and it rejected my FirstNet sim card. I thought the first one was defective. I sent it back. The second phone did the same. I have emails and video documentation of this going on. The explanation given to me is that at&t started do this to their retail prepaid phones. all the 2024 and older prepaid phones work just fine. Their is no warning on the box of this change. All of the listed devices are listed as certified to work on FirstNet. For a device to be certified for the at&t network it must also work with FirstNet. I am told that I am the first to figure this out. I have tested three brand new phones. all did the same. As a firefighter I find this disgusting.

Below is a copy of the text of an email I sent to my firstnet rep

I am a firefighter in New Jersey and a FirstNet subscriber. I am writing regarding an issue I have been unable to resolve through AT&T Consumer Care.

I recently purchased two Motorola Moto G Power 2025 devices (model XT2515-3). Both devices are AT&T branded and listed as FirstNet-compatible. However, both phones reject a

FirstNet SIM card as well as a FirstNet eSIM. The first time this happened I was left without a working phone because rep on the phone pushed a eSim to the phone.

After investigating, I noticed the devices have an AT&T-installed application called "Telecoms Client," which appears to control SIM authorization. When I insert my FirstNet SIM card

the application displays a message stating: "Your SIM card is not supported."

Before purchasing the phone, I verified that the device model is listed as compatible with FirstNet. Despite this, the phone accepts standard AT&T SIM cards but consistently rejects

FirstNet SIM cards.

Initially, I assumed the first device was defective and returned it. However, after experiencing the exact same issue with a second device of the same model, it no longer appears to

be a hardware or software defect. This leads me to believe that these AT&T-branded devices may be intentionally restricting the use of FirstNet SIM cards.

This behavior is inconsistent with my past experience. I have never encountered an AT&T-branded device that would accept AT&T SIM cards but reject FirstNet SIM cards. In fact, I

am currently writing this message on the previous model (Moto G Power 2024), which accepts my FirstNet SIM without any issues.

My concern is that AT&T may be restricting certain lower-cost devices from working with FirstNet, potentially to prevent them from competing with higher-priced devices. If this is the

case, it should be clearly disclosed, especially since the device is listed as compatible.

More importantly, this could present a real problem for first responders. If a firefighter, police officer, or EMT damages their phone and needs an immediate replacement, they may

reasonably purchase a compatible AT&T device expecting it to work with FirstNet, only to find that their SIM is rejected.

I would appreciate clarification on whether the Moto G Power 2025 (XT2515-3) is truly supported on FirstNet and, if so, how this issue can be resolved.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
