On 13 October 2023. non profit organization Toxin Free USA filed a complaint against Cava for false advertising and fraud after conducting a series of lab test that resulted in some of their product containing high levels organic fluorine,<ref name=":0">{{Cite web |date=3 April 2026 |title=Toxin Free USA v. As of April 2026, the case is still pending a legal outcome.<ref name=":0" />
