This project page contains a whole bunch of those tasks on the wiki which just need to be periodically done in order to keep the wheels turning. If there are any tasks which you think should be on this page but are not, feel free to add them!

==List of 'ongoing events' articles==
A reasonable number of articles on the wiki are about incidents which are still unfolding. It's important that we keep an eye on these events so that the wiki pages dedicated to them don't fall out of date and become inaccurate. Eventually, once things have settled down for any given incident, the final step will be to remove the template, and remove them from this list.

The table below contains a list of all articles with the 'OngoingEvent' template. An automatically updated list, which will be useful for updating the table below, can be found here: [[Projects:Maintain/Current_events]]

If you check for updates on any of these, please update the static table below with the date they were last checked, and place any notes on expected future developments in the 'notes' column.

==Updating/rotating the 'highlighted articles' on the main page==
We've got a nice section of the front page which highlights a selection of articles for people to jump into the wiki from, which needs to be updated from time to time. The main criteria for articles to be accepted for inclusion on the front page are the following:
* They must be unambiguously in-scope for the wiki.
* They must be at least semi-decent in their quality and completeness.
* They must have a reasonable number of links to other articles on the wiki, so that readers can use them as a jumping-off point.

And yes, you are absolutely allowed to put forward articles that you've had a big hand in making!

Because it's a pretty integral portion of the front page of the site, the main page is protected and as such you'll need to make your changes to a [[Projects:Maintain/Featured_articles|publicly editable copy of the area of the main page's source]] (using the source editor is going to be a lot easier for this) responsible for featured articles. All you need to do is ping [[User:Keith|Keith]] or any other active mod with the necessary privileges and let them know you've edited the unprotected version and would like them to copy the changes to the main page. In general, the same goes for any other changes you think should be made to the main page: just draft your changes somewhere unprotected, and then let an admin know!

==Maintenance tasks with special pages==
This is a collection of tasks which are a normal part of maintaining any wiki, and have their own dedicated special pages that can be used to monitor the wiki for changes that need to be made.

===Search Digest===
The [[Special:SearchDigest|Search Digest]] shows the terms users have searched for that returned no results. This can both highlight topics that users expect to find on the wiki but don't yet have a page, as well as reveal cases where a page exists but isn't being found, indicating that a redirect from the searched term may need to be created.

===Orphaned Pages===
The [[Special:LonelyPages|Orphaned Pages]] list shows pages that no other page links to. Orphaned pages are effectively invisible to readers who are browsing the wiki, since there is no natural way to navigate to them. Pages on this list should either be linked to from a relevant article, category, or hub page, or investigated to see whether they should be merged or deleted.

===Uncategorized Pages===
The [[Special:UncategorizedPages|Uncategorized Pages]] list shows pages that have not been assigned to any category. Categories are important for helping readers discover related content and for keeping the CRW organised. Any page on this list should have at least one appropriate category tag added to it.

===Dead-end Pages===
The [[Special:DeadendPages|Dead-end Pages]] list shows pages that contain no links to other pages on the wiki. A dead-end page doesn't give readers anywhere to go after reading it, which breaks the connected nature of the wiki. Pages on this list should be reviewed and updated to include links to related articles where appropriate.
