Not everything is an incident, there are theme, company and product articles. Incident is a basic tier in Article Types. Please revert the changes to retain this as a main category. Kostas (talk) 16:09, 18 January 2025 (UTC)

Categorization

Hey, thanks for taking on the categorization before it becomes more unmanagable. I have changed the category link to point to the root category you created. An issue that may come up is when we started we were using Product Line to categorize products as that was the language used in the tiers in Article Types. Once we reach a consencus on which to use we might have to migrate the Products Category you created. Kostas (talk) 13:04, 18 January 2025 (UTC)

Sure, thanks for updating the link. I moved a few pages to Products myself, so if the decision has been made to move everything to Product Line, shoot me a message and I'll take care of it. It would be nice not to have to complete a captcha every time, though (wink, wink) :).

On a related note, I wasn't certain whether category names should be plural or not, so a concensus needs to be reached there. Companies had more pages than Company and Products had more than Product, so that's where I categorized things for now. I'm mentioning this now because you may want to go for Product Lines instead of Product Line.

There's also the topic of capitalization. Again, sentence case (Right to repair) was more popular than title case (Right to Repair), so that's where I put things. Case is also a consideration in the case of Product Line. Waldo (talk) 13:17, 18 January 2025 (UTC)

I haven't been able to discuss anything on the discord today, and won't be able to until this evening, but I think that sentence case is probably the way to go, and would at this stage support a sitewise sentence case policy. I've added you as a bot, so no more captchas! you've filled in plenty already lol. I have no strong opinion on pluralisation of category names. I think that products and product lines might both end up being article types, because for certain products it will just make sense to have their own page, and I don't want to be too dogmatic about it especially with how young the wiki is. Thanks. I've been getting pretty good at these captchas, lol. I also think that the Products and Product line categories should coexist. I might later start moving things from Product Line to Product lines if that's fine with everyone (plural looks better in the category listings). Waldo (talk)

If you want to take this on I have also support having both categories you can create a `Product lines` one (in sentence case since we are going with that) and move appropriate ones there. However the should also be changed in the articles afterwards (but I assume you know that since you have been a categorization machine). In another note, regarding this temlpate Template:Delete I will edit it to make it more obvious that this is a user request as it now seems like an administrative note but be mindful of that to avoid confusion in the future. There already templates moderators use to mark pages for deletion.

I'll probably take that task on later. Right now, the most important thing is to make sure that all pages are categorized and that all category pages exist and are reachable from the root category. I'm now taking inspiration from the Article Types page you linked.

That Delete template was just temporary since I didn't know how else to keep track of deletion requests. Feel free to modify it as you see fit, or even delete it if there's a better way for a user to raise such a request. Waldo (talk) 13:54, 18 January 2025 (UTC)

I deleted the template and added one named DeletionRequest you can use for this purpose. Agreed on priorities, just wanted us to be on the same page as too many cooks in the kitchen is not a good idea for categorization. Kostas (talk) 14:15, 18 January 2025 (UTC)

Everything is now reachable from Category:Wiki root. Category:Product Line has been moved to Category:Product lines :).

Sure, I'll join it, but I won't be very active since I'm an engineering student with not a lot of free time.
