'''OneDrive''' is a cloud storage service created by [[Microsoft]] in 2007 as SkyDrive and rebranded in 2014.
Please help me beef this out. I do not know HTML, but just needed somewhere to put this. I don't know what I'm doing.

I also don't know if I'm correct in <u>believing what I'm seeing</u>. It's possible that my files exist somewhere on my PC outside of OneDrive, just not somewhere someone who is computer illiterate like me would think to check. Also, the thought that they are staggering the implementation of this new way OneDrive interacts with user data (non-consensual, forced back up) is ''an assumption'' based on the fact that this has been happening for different users at different rates over the last year. I think it's to stop people from banding together, fighting back, or finding relevant solutions that aren't outdated.

If you have a similar experience please help & please share.

If you know HTML &/or are more familiar with the guidelines of this wiki, please edit/delete/censor all things necessary to make this work.

===Example incident one (''date'')===
===Aggressive push for backups (''Aug. 2025'')===
{{Main|link to the main article}}
Windows users found that, at some point, the software attempts to back up user files. However, the way it does so is by redirecting several (unwittingly chosen) base folders to OneDrive, which once full, requests that the user "Upgrade" or "Free Up Space". When the user tries to disable OneDrive by solutions found with a surface level search, it removes all said user files both locally and in cloud. The only ways for the user to recover those files require a physical backup, from desktop or OneDrive. User files are also being corrupted in the process.
Short summary of the incident (could be the same as the summary preceding the article).
===Incident Two — August 20th, 2025===
Microsoft OneDrive attempted to "back up" all my computer files. When it had '''''moved''''' 5 gigs of files to OneDrive, it requested that I "Upgrade" or "Free Up Space". When I tried to disable OneDrive, it removed all my files from my desktop & I had to copy all the files ''from'' OneDrive to get them back onto my PC. I am now in the process of backing up all my files '''''FROM''''' One Drive '''''TO''''' my external SSD so they don't get deleted when I remove OneDrive from my computer. My files are getting corrupted in the process (I was not aware that OneDrive would do this. I did not opt-in to OneDrive using my data. I believe they are staggering the implementation of this new "feature" (backing up all computer files without user knowledge, notification, or consent), ''allegedly'' to stop backlash from consumers.
The file for the Desktop One Drive Shortcut was created today:

User suspicions claim the implementation of this action (backing up all computer files without user knowledge, notification, or consent) is being staggered, allegedly to stop unified backlash from consumers.

See references for evidence that this has been happening to users at different rates over the last year.'']]
[[File:File Corruption When Copying from OneDrive.png|thumb|''<u>File corruption as a result of OneDrive's forced backup:</u> Interrupted action notification from Windows, stating that "file ... has properties that can't be copied to the new location". This file is a recording of a song the user wrote & believed to be safe on their computer.'']]

OneDrive advised that I do not have the proper permissions to upload files that I never requested to back up:
