As of April 2025, there is no convenient way of using the Synapse software on Windows without having to create a user account and being connected to the internet[7]. There may have been ways to circumvent this in the past[8]. Version 3.5.1215.121019 (released in 2020) seems to work with limited functionality with a "Guest" account (no login), which still allows for a full configuration of the devices[9]. For Linux, there is an open source alternative for the software[10]. A Windows port of this Linux software exists, but as of April 2025 the files have not been updated for at least four years[11] (the port might still work regardless).
