AirPower debuted in the sneak peeks section of a 2017 Keynote and was widely anticipated to be the next big leap in mobile device charging but was delayed and eventually cancelled some 18 months later. Supporters of Apple would argue that they made a good business decision and used what they had learned to design MagSafe, magnetic wireless charging for all of their devices. Critics say that Apple decided to unveil another product that did not work to please their shareholders, and they were not able to make it work forcing them to break their promise with consumers.
