Reg. "Introduction of forced arbitration (Mar. 2024)"
An arbitration clause has been present in the ToS since 2017 as evident by this archive,  therefor that section is inaccurate and should probably be removed and/or edited to reflect that. ==Security risk: Presenting cryptic "direct link" in article==
The "direct link" to assist with account deletion seems like a security risk for the reader.  The link is to a cryptic domain ( dis.gd ), not the primary one for this company.  Anybody could edit that URL on the wiki, substituting one that lead to a malicious website.  I think the link should be removed unless somebody knows how to make the link secure.
"Direct link subject to user instance - http://dis.gd ..."
Thanks. Drakeula (talk) 00:41, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
:https://dis.gd is discords official short link, you can see that they use it all over their product and marketing materials.
:For example, have a look at the "whats new" modal in settings, a couple of example tweets https://x.com/discord/status/1964018049868292122, https://x.com/discord/status/1944789856808554618, and some example support articles where it is used here, here, and a list of all articles with dis.gd in it Jerry (talk) 21:49, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

requiring phone number for sign up
just me or is this shit kinda universal at this point? don't matter the platform, Discord, IG, whatever. Signing up w an email always cues "To protect our users" where you gotta input a phn number for verification. Was thinking to add this but need to make sure it's widespread. btw shows up when not using a VPN and forward email aliases. :it was better system when it just required email verification, it kept it simple. Obieden (talk) 00:23, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
October 2025 Data Breach - Did Discord claim data would not be saved?
Regarding "Third-Party Customer Service Data Breach (Oct. 2025)", can we see if Discord ever claimed that the data would not be retained? Ikubaysan (talk) 16:13, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
Discord BANS popular server due to flagging VIOLIN SHEET MUSIC as inappropriate
I stumbled upon a topic that I believe may be good to have mentioned somewhere in this article or a related article as an incident.
There is this individual named Sal who ran the Dead Malls of Discord (abbreviated as DMOD), a Discord server about dead malls (and retail as a whole). Sometime over the last few days, the server was wiped from the platform. Sal states in a recent post that in spite of trying to open support tickets and appeals, he was unable to do anything to bring back the Dead Malls of Discord server. The support tickets, sal says, were all auto-closed with canned bot responses. https://www.youtube.com/post/Ugkx1-dA22XF0lFsOhccqigU1FgUSV0IINcC
While Dead Malls of Discord was certainly not the largest server out there, it was widely known across the retail community as a resource to talk to people and collaborate on anything dead malls related.
Sal says that the flag was due to a photo he posted in the server of sheet music displaying various musical notes for the Bach Double Violin Concerto.
For what it's worth, Sal is looking into Osmium Chat, an up-and-coming Discord alternative, to bring DMOD back into focus.
This doesn't fix what happened on Discord, however, and it seems to just re-emphasize how dangerous and arguably-stupid it is to have AI bots decide the fate of things. An entire community was wiped out in the blink of an eye with no apparent sign of return except to rebuild somewhere else. Even with Sal's popularity in the retail community with over five hundred thousand YouTube subscribers, it could take years to build back up to anything even remotely close to what the server was previously.
