We are happy to announce that we're launching the first couple of our project pages on the Wiki - These are going to be a collection of pages where we organise specific tasks that need completing and in a way that should make it easy for you guys to find edits you'd like to make. If you've avoided editing in the past due to being a bit intimidated about making big edits, you just weren't sure where your effort would be needed, or are new to editing, then these project pages might be a good place to look!
We'd like to announce the launch of two new projects on the wiki:

The first two are we have released are:
* Project Laws aims to increase the number of articles about consumer-rights-relevant laws from around the world, so that the wiki can be a useful resource for people trying to find out what the laws are where they live, or for people looking to compare and contrast the laws of different countries;
Archive everything - where we make the Wiki more resistant to link rot by archiving important links our articles use as references, and,
Cargo-complete - where we make sure that every article has its full set of metadata.

The hub for project pages, where any future project pages will be listed, can be found here: https://consumerrights.wiki/w/Projects:Hub. We're also happy for people to suggest or propose ideas for future projects on the discussion page of the project hub!
* Project Maintain brings together a number of the tasks that need to be done on a regular basis to keep the wiki ticking over, and points you in the right direction!

Also, remember to sign up for this month's Zoom hangout and get yourself on the mailing list for the meeting link by emailing [email protected] with the subject line 'monthly hangout'! The hangout will be at the same time as last month - on the first Sunday of the month at 20:00 UTC. If you signed up last month, you'll still get the email.

The Consumer Rights Wiki is now open-source!

A couple of announcements today! We're officially launching both the Wiki Zulip server, and the superconfirmed role on the Wiki.

2025-07-22
The Zulip server, located at https://zulip.consumerrights.wiki/ (and accessible via the left sidebar), is intended to act as a Discord alternative for those of you who aren't too keen on setting up a Discord account. It is a privacy respecting open source program which we self-host, and we've also set up bridge infrastructure, meaning that many of the main channels on the Discord and Zulip allow for cross-platform communication, with messages sent on one platform being viewable on the other.

We've just launched an update to the create-a-page flow for most pages, which now includes a form! This new form will collect a few basic details about the specific article you're creating, and will use your answers to auto-populate a table which will provide machine-readable information for third party projects  (for company and product articles, it will also populate the infobox in the template!). This information will be used by projects like the in-development browser extension, as well as anyone who wants to access some hard data on the Wiki's pages.
Unlike a full wiki mod, superconfirmed users will not have any special privileges relating to banning or managing the permissions of other accounts on the site, but will still be able to remove article notices, edit protected pages, and so on. The full requirements can be found on Consumer_Rights_Wiki:Moderator_applications however the gist of it is that you need to know what you're on about and have ~1 month of productive edits on this wiki, or demonstrate to an administrator that you have experience on another wiki with comparable editorial standards, such as Wikipedia.

Check it out by hitting the create a page button in the sidebar!

We've released our first annual report! It contains general reflections on the first year of our operation, as well as all the results from the survey carried out a few weeks ago, and our priorities for the near future. Congratulations to everyone on getting the site to this point, and go give it a read!

We're also happy to announce the official release of the Consumer Rights Wiki browser extension, which will flag sites related to products and companies with entries on the wiki as you browse.

We're phasing out the Louis Rossmann video directory in favour of a more general Article suggestions page, created by the eminent JamesTDG!
Please find the Chrome extension here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/consumer-rights-wiki/bppajinomefndbbmopljhbdfefnefdha

This will allow anyone to contribute their (hopefully sourced!) ideas to the Wiki without needing to create a full article, and will provide an excellent repository of ideas for editors in need of inspiration.
And the Firefox extension here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/consumer-rights-wiki/

Quick note to say that we're deprecating Archive.today, and editors should no longer use them for archiving.
The reason is a whole bunch of internet drama but long story short, the site maintainer/owner seems to have used malicious Javascript to make all visitors to the site unwittingly participate in a DDOS against the personal website of someone they didn't like, as well as allegedly editing archived pages as a form of harassment against the same target, making archive.today no longer a reliable archive.

We're opening up applications for moderators! Please see here for full instructions on how to apply.
We're starting monthly editor meetings for regular users of the wiki to meet up, socialise, and chat with the team. The meetings will be held via Zoom, and if you're interested, please email [email protected] with your wiki name, and the subject line 'Monthly Wiki hangout' to get added to the mailing list for the Zoom invite!

In short, we're looking for motivated individuals who are willing to patrol the Wiki, make sure that articles are up to scratch, and take actions to protect the wiki from spam or malicious content whenever appropriate.
These meetings will be hosted at 20:00 UTC on the first Sunday of each month.
