|Apple & Visa have known about a vulnerability in their payment processing systems regarding transit systems since 2021 hand have done nothing to prevent scams from exploiting the vulnerability.
Apple blames Visa for the vulnerability, and Visa simply says if you see it happen on your account then you can dispute the charge, and they'll give you your money back... but this requires you to actually notice that you've been scammed in this way, which could be pretty easy to miss unless you are checking your bank statements regularly.

I found a rare configuration of a Dell Precision on eBay (7540/Core i9 /Radeon WX 3200) with a disclosed BIOS lock, essentially making it e-waste/parts. I contacted Dell on their website and in a live chat to ask if for a fee they could unlock it for me should I buy it. After some cajoling, they explained once I buy it I should contact them and eventually they sent me an unlock code. One less machine in the landfill, thanks Dell.
