This tamplate covers mostly the same use case as the {{Cite web}} template. The main differences are:

• This template does not require a |url= parameter
• This template accepts |issue= and |volume= parameters

So this temlpate better accomodates news sources that are sourced from print.

This template formats a citation to a news article in print, video, audio or web using the provided source information (e.g. author, publication, date) and various formatting options.
