This is unfortunately the most common issue, people will buy an aerox 3 mouse and they will report that after installing the steelseries firmware, their mouse will cease to function, typically an hour after installing the firmware. steelseries has a support team, and their support team has a tendency to gaslight the end user into thinking the problem is always a physical issue with the device and they will never assess that it might have been the firmware at fault. they will insist that you need to clean the device, regardless of what the actual issue is. ive seen personally that they will tell you to clean the sensor, or to take the device apart and ensure that the device is itself cleaned out. they do not direct any unwanted attention to their firmware in diagnosis.

===Aerox 3 failing after a year of use===
'''My own case is:''' after a year of using my mouse, my mouse will turn itself into an autoclicker, this has happened to my particular aerox 3, 3 separate times. I have owned my mouse for 3 years, this has happened once a year since i have owned it. every time it has happened, i have been able to unbrick my mouse. and i have found a solution the last time that didnt require me to factory reset my computer and start everything over again (which i had to do the second time around as a last resort). see "fixes found for this device".
Some people say that after a year of using their mouse, their mouse will turn itself into an autoclicker, once a year. They have been able to unbrick their mouse.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Aerox 3 doesn’t work after software update |url=https://www.reddit.com/r/steelseries/comments/1g64hn7/aerox_3_doesnt_work_on_mousepad_after_firmware/?chainedPosts=t3_yrheuz |website=Reddit}}</ref>

one amazon customer review said:<blockquote>"Customers find the gaming mouse to be of good quality and appreciate its lightweight design and comfortable feel. The mouse receives positive feedback for its design, with one customer particularly liking its shape. However, the click functionality receives mixed reviews, with several customers reporting issues with the left click not working properly. Moreover, the mouse's lifespan is concerning, with multiple customers reporting it suddenly dying after three months of use. Additionally, the software functionality receives negative feedback, with one customer mentioning issues with the software not working on Apple M devices."</blockquote>https://www.amazon.ae/SteelSeries-Aerox-Wireless-TrueMove-Optical/dp/B08KWKDRFF?th=1

If you are experiencing an aerox 3 that has started autoclicking a year after you bought it:<blockquote>"First Factory Reset the mouse, you can do this by holding down left and right mouse button while holding down the cpi button, with all three of those buttons held down, unplug and re-plug the mouse, if done right, the mouse will blink, red-blue for me. while the mouse is in its reset mode, uninstall steelseries.gg entirely. if you have a second non steelseries mouse laying around. plug it in to your computer. then, with that mouse plugged in, unplug and replug your aerox mouse. then go into your device drivers control panel while both mice are still plugged in. make sure just to update drivers if need be. after drivers are updated, you should be good to unplug the stand-in mouse and your aerox should retain its led and cpi settings as they were last set in the steelseries firmware. and your aerox 3 will just work now even after a system reboot. "</blockquote>This fix may also work for other firmware issues, if you have run out of options, try this fix, and please add the fix for your scenario if it worked for you.{{Main|https://linustechtips.com/topic/1586506-steel-series-aerox-3-firmware-issues-fix}}
