GrapheneOS, formerly known as CopperheadOS, is an open-source, security-focused, and Android-based operating system.[1] As of 2025, GrapheneOS only officially supports Google's Pixel product line because it is the only product that meets their security standard.[2]

Reception

Positive

German Security Researcher and Pentester Kuketz said that it was the "...gold standard of Android ROMs...".[15]

Cellularnews.com stated "GrapheneOS is arguably the best mobile operating system in terms of privacy and security."[16]

Negative

Louis Rossmann, a consumer rights advocate and influencer, praised the project, but criticized the Lead Developer, Daniel Micay. A conversation between the two accused Rossmann of promoting harassment, slander, and attempted murder of Micay for commenting on a Techlore video stating: "This is informative, and unfortunate." Micay subsequently threatened to ban Rossmann from their Matrix channel, and accused him of being discriminatory of people with autism.[17]
