===Short Description of Adobe ADEPT===
It works by encrypting books with book keys and allowing access to authorized accounts and devices through Adobe Digital Editions. User keys are generated for users and sent to Adobe. Book keys are encrypted with user keys and sent back. The result is a license which is stored locally alongside the encrypted book that the license is for. This way, users can access content without needing an internet connection. When Digital Edition attempts to obtain a license for an ebook it sends a fulfillment token to the distributor, which forwards it to Adobe. Because the token is unencrypted at this stage, and because it includes the user id and information about which book is being requested, Adobe can see exactly who is requesting what.<ref name="xot" />
