Some General Electric (GE) Ranges and Ovens require the owner to connect the stove to internet via Wifi and download the SmartHQ app on either an IOS, Android, or other device to access certain functions of their oven. According to a GE Customer Service representative 1-800-626-2005 (Questions About Appliances You Own[1]) the no preheat air fry function and the convection oven function will not work without an internet connection and the SmartHQ app.

5 March 2022 - Features locked until device was connected to wifi
David Barnard tried to use the Convection Roast mode on GE wall oven. Upon selecting the mode from the oven’s touch screen, he was presented with a message saying he would have to connect his oven to WiFi to unlock the feature[3]. General Electric ovens were found to require connection to WiFi before certain features could be used. The ovens have the necessary physical buttons to turn on these features, the oven would not allow those features to be used until it had been first connected to a WiFi network and the user had connected the oven to the GE SmartHQ app. The affected features included convection roast, air fry and dehydrate.
17 March 2024 - Features locked in Wifi equipped kitchen range, model GRF600AV1SS
GE Profile™ 30" Smart Free-Standing Electric Double Oven Convection Range with No Preheat Air Fry oven delivered Saturday [16 March 2024]. The air fryer function was not working. Called General Electric help line. Was informed that the range needed to be connected to Wifi with internet access and the app on a phone or tablet. The appliance manager at Lowes, where the oven was purchased, arranged for me to exchange the oven for another one that does not require internet access.
