DISCLAIMER & PLEA:

Please help me beef this out. I do not know HTML, but just needed somewhere to put this. I don't know what I'm doing.

I also don't know if I'm correct in believing what I'm seeing. It's possible that my files exist somewhere on my PC outside of OneDrive, just not somewhere someone who is computer illiterate like me would think to check. Also, the thought that they are staggering the implementation of this new way OneDrive interacts with user data (non-consensual, forced back up) is an assumption based on the fact that this has been happening for different users at different rates over the last year. I think it's to stop people from banding together, fighting back, or finding relevant solutions that aren't outdated.

If you have a similar experience please help & please share.

If you know HTML &/or are more familiar with the guidelines of this wiki, please edit/delete/censor all things necessary to make this work.

Summary box

I noticed that the summary box says:

"Add your text below this box. Once this section is complete, delete this box by clicking on it and pressing backspace."

I assume this was by accident, I don't want to delete it just in case it was deliberate and that it's not finished, so I'm pointing it out here.

Auto Sync & On by default

Article reads: > Once users have reached the maximum space OneDrive allows, they are prompted to pay for additional space, and in some cases are prevented from downloading attachments through Outlook and other Microsoft products.[3] Without the standard shortcuts to local folders in place, users are often unaware that they have alternative options. When users attempt to disable OneDrive, the service removes the user's files from the cloud.[4][5][6] If users have not made a local backup beforehand, their files are permanently lost.

I believe google drive does the same thing with gmail/android, so this problem isn't restricted to Microsoft's onedrive service. I've been getting nagged to increase my google drive storage for ages, even though I don't use google drive/gmail, and my phone keeps uploading pictures to google drive, even though I've disabled it.
