More nuance needed?
The claim on this page that Proton's policy for IP logging "proved to be false" is inaccurate. Proton's website said that no IP addresses are logged by default. While this could be described as confusing or misleading, the situation mentioned in that section does not seem to directly contradict the original written policy. - To be clear: the difference isn't in settings somewhere, it's whether or not Proton has a need to log your IP.
- So they don't usually, but are capable of it if your account is accused of illegal activity.
- "Proton must comply with Swiss law. As soon as a crime is committed, privacy protections can be suspended and we’re required by Swiss law to answer requests from Swiss authorities"
- I'm not aware of any way a company with a server could claim to a government that they can't give the IP address used to connect to an account in the future. GoldenCMOS (talk) 16:25, 4 June 2026 (UTC)

Article should be merged with Proton
Proton Mail is a stub as-is while Proton is incomplete, and the service is one of many of Proton's offerings. I think the content here should be included as a subheading of Proton which would kill two birds with one stone. Another benefit is that if there are any other product-specific incidents with Proton's offerings in the future, there won't be any need to create a new stub article, it can simply all be included in one place under Proton.
