Autodesk shady tactics

I'm going to give a bit of informations here about autodesk, I don't know if it would be useful, or where to put it in the wiki. If someone wants to have a look.

In an interview with the youtuber BlenderGuru with Tod Roosendaal (ex-pdg, still part of the Blender company). It has been reveal that in the EULA, Autodesk Looking in to your computer, can decide "Something shady is going on", they can send you a letter. In two weeks being at your doorstep, then hold hostage your computer and delete whatever they don't like.

It has also been reveal that, allegedly, that Autodesk went to companies who primarly used Blender as software and spread lies about what belongs to you if you use the software.

(also FBX, the most common file type used by 3D artist, belongs to Autodesk so they try to change the format every year so any software company that want use it have to pay a fee to them. SO basically your files doesn't belongs to you.)

https://youtu.be/qJEWOTZnFeg?si=D3Sp6xHXaN38lLAU&t=2813 -> the interview and the moment they speak about Autodesk

https://youtu.be/qJEWOTZnFeg?si=yYVvoOHz0VfOlthd&t=3166 -> about the licence

https://youtu.be/qJEWOTZnFeg?si=SqSQrcX5VfKeBbwz&t=3182 -> how your work doesn't belongs to you (granted here they talk about an educational licence that doesn't exist anymore, but the problem stay the same with nowaday licence. No more licence, no more access, nothing belongs to you)

https://youtu.be/qJEWOTZnFeg?si=GFDHg3xxGvtmUlPN&t=3243 -> blender being targeted by mail of people complaining about the licence, a licence they misunderstood but why...? (also Tod expressly says: "Everything you do with blender belongs to you)

So yeah, I don't know if it would be of use to you, but I don't want to let those stories go. Alex.L (talk) 17:17, 7 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
