NSA

The National Security Agency (NSA) is a member of the United States (US) Intelligence Community (IC). The NSA works with universities, businesses, and many other entities to increase the United States national security from threats both foreign and domestic.

It has recently come to light that the NSA has been illegally spying on US citizens. In this ars technica article the author, Ashley Belanger, stated that the NSA has been purchasing private citizens' "records from data brokers". This includes location data. This is tied to the FTC's settlement with data broker X-Mode in which is was disclosed that X-Mode and other data brokers resell sensitive data without users' permission or knowledge.
