Nitro PDF License Deactivating

On May 5, 2025, Nitro Software, Inc. sent an email to perpetual license holders of Niro PDF, stating they would be revoking the licenses remotely.

Background

Nitro Software, Inc. offered perpetual licenses, which were paid for, and is now revoking them from users. They now offer a subscription service for the newer version with security improvements.[1]

[Incident]

On May 5, 2025, Nitro sent the following email to perpetual license holders:

We are reaching out to notify you that your Nitro PDF for Windows license(s) with the serial number(s) listed below will be deactivated within the next 30 days and no longer supported. Following deactivation, you will be unable to access advanced functionality, including PDF editing and conversion.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but to uphold our commitment to security, it is necessary to phase out the use of deprecating technology.
