Incidents

Creators' lawsuit (Jan 2025)

Online creators filed a class-action lawsuit against Capital One, alleging that the company used cookies to override the commissions that content creators would've earned through affiliate marketing. In their lawsuit, they claimed unjust enrichment by Capital One as well as intentional interference with contractual relations and conversion, among other claims. Capital One attempted to dismiss the case in June, then finally settled in September while admitting to no wrongdoing.

Alleged fraudulent discounts

Many users have claimed Capital One Shopping advertises fraudulent discounts that don't actually exist. Capitaloneshopping.com holds a rating of 1.3 stars on Trust Pilot, with many reviewers claiming "fraudulent prices," calling the browser extension a "hoax," and stating how they feel "frustrated" and cheated. ^{[citation needed]}
