False Advertising on Chicken Tenders

On July 2022, Natasha Sanders filed a lawsuit against Popeyes for their chicken tenders not being made entirely of chicken tenderloins, instead, using other meat from chicken breast.[2] The lawsuit is still in progress as of March 2026.[3]

Popeye's health Violations

On July 18, 2025, Popeyes was hit with 10 violations over raw chicken, cut lettuce and cabbage were out temperature, large number of flies, fumes and smoke, raw sewage inside the men's bathroom. Due to the sewage, the restaurant closed, however it reopened later during the day after a plummer came in to fix the sewage problem.[4]

On September 9, 2025, the restaurant received 18 health code violations from the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation due to improper handwashing and clothing procedures, mold at coolers and ice machine, solid walls, food debris on equipment handles, and grease buildup under fryers. The restaurant chain fixed these issues immediately on-site, avoiding closure and earning a passing grade.[5]
