Firmware update removes AccuCheck glucometer link (2023)
edit
- Main article: link to the main CR Wiki article
The 780G originally integrated via RF with the AccuCheck glucometer. When finger sticks were performed for calibration or general blood glucose tests, those results could be sent wirelessly to the pump to provide a data point that would later be made available in reporting.
When the 780G was patched to support a constant glucose monitor (CGM) other than Medtronic's original Gaurdian (e.g. Abbot, Simplera), the patch removed the ability to send finger stick readings to the pump. Per Medtronic documentation, this was done as new CGMs no longer require calibration. However finger sticks remain the gold standard for any uncertainty in the sensor's reading. Now the glucose reading number must be manually entered in order for the pump to record it. Functionality was removed to no benefit of the patient.
