On December 12, 2024, Terumo Cardiovascular informed customers that, effective January 1, 2025, it would no longer be offering certification for repair or maintenance of the System 1, its advanced perfusion heart-lung machine. Instead, future repair and servicing is expected to be carried out by the company directly. While existing certifications will remain valid, they will naturally lapse at their expiration dates, and renewal will not be possible.
