Dyson covers circuit board in glue which prevents repairs
Dyson made it no longer possible to replace the power button of new Dyson vacuum cleaners by yourself, you will have to buy a completely new housing[1]. It is not uncommon for the power button to break, wear out or stay stuck; which before you could fix yourself by replacing the power button[2]. The prices of these housings ranged from $80 to $200, which are prices for which other brands sell full vacuum cleaners[3]. A Dyson employee states: "Yes, I can assure you it’s a normal thing. The glue prevents you from replacing the button yourself"[1]. Before this addition of glue, some customers who repaired their vacuum cleaner pointed out that the trigger design was flawed on the Dyson V11, and would easily stick or even break[4].
