IKEA ÅSKVÄDER
IKEA ÅSKVÄDER is a modular powerstrip.[1]
Consumer impact summary
ÅSKVÄDER uses a proprietary connector between modules and the "regular" wall outlet but the cable with Schuko to this proprietary connector has proven to be a major challenge to obtain. If IKEA decides to discontinue these cables all together, it means you'll likely have to throw out the entire system if said cable breaks for whatever reason. This issue could have easily been prevented by using a more standard connector like the C13 which can readily be obtained from a variety of sources and is highly unlikely to be discontinued.
Additionally, due to the design of the system, bare metal prongs stick out on each of the modules and some of the extension cables. These could be live thus exposing the user to potentially life threatening situations. As I'm currently unable to obtain a cable to plug it into the wall, I have been unable to properly verify and gather evidence for this issue.
