Cybergun is a French company specializing in licensed airsoft and replica firearms. The business originated in 1983 when Jérôme Marsac and Vincent Bouvet began working together in the French scale-model and hobby market. Their early company imported and distributed radio-controlled models and other hobby products.

In 1993 the company expanded into the airsoft sector, introducing replica firearms that fire 6 mm plastic BB pellets. As the popularity of realistic airsoft replicas grew in Europe and North America, the company adopted the Cybergun brand to represent its expanding line of airsoft products.

Seeking to differentiate its products from other replica manufacturers, the company pursued licensing agreements with real firearm manufacturers so that its replicas could carry official trademarks. The first major agreement was signed with Smith & Wesson in 1997, followed by licensing deals with brands including Colt, SIG Sauer, and Magnum Research (Desert Eagle). This licensing strategy helped establish Cybergun as a major brand in the global airsoft market.

In 1998 the company patented a transparent replica design known as “Clear Guns,” which used transparent materials to reveal the internal mechanisms of the replica. Over time, the Cybergun brand became closely associated with licensed airsoft replicas distributed worldwide.
