Google has added some Android devices to their "Find Hub" network without the users consent, only informing them via email[1], and giving only 2 days to opt-out[2][3][4]. There is supposedly an opt-out link, but opening the link will open a pop-up that forces you to accept Google to use your location, device info and connection activities before you can do anything else. If you press "No Thanks", you will be linked to some Help Center, where there is no information about how to opt-out, and if you go back, you will be greeted with the pop-up again.
How to Opt-Out
[edit | edit source]Here's how you can opt out from this[5]:
If you just got the mail and you device isn't joined to the network yet (you have 2 days), you can opt-out from this link. Otherwise, the process is a bit more tricky.
- On your Android device, go to Settings.
- Tap the Google setting.
- Tap the Find My Device setting.
- Tap the toggle to off next to "Use Find My Device."
- Confirm with pin, pattern, or biometrics.
