==Consumer protection incidents== ====End of life for Arlo legacy cameras and services (Jul. 2023βJan. 2025)==== On July 1st of 2023, Arlo announced two of their popular home security cameras would be designated End Of Life (EOL). In January 1st of 2025, Arlo designated 6 more popular products to this category.<ref name=":3" /> While this designation does not immediately remove the use of the device, important features are discontinued: *These products no longer receive firmware and software updates.<ref name=":3" /> *Free 7-day rolling cloud storage will no longer be available for these products.<ref name=":3" /> *Any additional features Arlo sees fit to remove in the future.<ref name=":3" /> Despite the purchase of the device already being made, Arlo has the power to unilaterally decide not to follow their end of the deal by not providing the service the consumer paid for. As a result of their cameras being tied to Arlo's proprietary software hosted on Arlo's servers, the user is left stranded when Arlo decides their product is outdated.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrtbYu1OYhY "Arlo cameras take the L with disposable junk"], youtube.com, Louis Rossmann, sourced 20 Jan 2025</ref>
