The CEO of FreePhoneLine , owned and run by Fongo, sponsored by DELL, has decided to change the terms of service of their "LIFETIME VoIP" license, taking it away from the people who purchased it and replacing it with a monthly subscription model.

Background

In the second half of 2024, FreePhoneLine started sending out emails stating that they are changing the terms of sale, revoking everyone's Lifetime License and replacing it with a monthly subscription model.

Backlash ensued, since people paid in excess of $100 for these "Lifetime" licenses. Additionally, the original terms of service already included a 911 pay-per-use fee of $34 every time it was called whether an emergency or not.

The company ignored all complaints. The Better Business Bureau could not even get a hold of anyone to talk to at the company. Looking at their BBB complaints, most have gone unanswered. Their customer service is trash.
