Under the Minecraft Usage Guidelines it says "Do not do anything that would harm or damage our name, brand, or assets (for example: gambling, pornography, violence, terrorism, or other unsafe/mature content)"<ref name="minecraftUG">{{Cite web |title=Minecraft Usage Guidelines |url=https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/usage-guidelines |access-date=August 17, 2025 |website=Minecraft}}</ref>. After Microsoft acquired Mojang on 15th of September 2015 Mojang started the process of migrating Minecraft accounts to Microsoft, This process would force users to either link their Microsoft Xbox account to their Minecraft account or, create a Microsoft Xbox account. Non-compliance with these requirements would mean that people who had previously purchased Minecraft would lose access to the purchase <ref name="minecraftUG" />.
