There isn't much on this page ad it seems pretty useless.

You can add a reason for the request by specifying after the template name, i.e. {{DeletionRequest|<insert reason here>}}. :)

yeah, generally we like to wait around a day or so before adding notices to a brand new article, under the assumption that the person who created it is probably still working on it. We'd also typically begin with a stub notice, only escalating to a deletion notice if the article's been around for a while and seems like it's not being worked on at all.
