They incentivize Android app developers to depend on google-libraries and APIs. Pretty much every app on Play-Store depends so much on Play-Services that they refuse to do any basic tasks (discord and whatsapp are examples, last time I checked). I believe GMS doesn't get enough attention, and google wants it to stay that way. | |||
However, I do agree that the article is very anemic in its current state.
