Consumer-impact summary
The Coca-Cola company is actively exploiting the country of Mexico, which suffers from a lack of clean water, and not only forces the citizens to buy water and soda, but also lobbies Mexican politicians to keep it that way.
Incidents
Coca-Cola had a history of conducting invasive and deadly animal experiments–including cutting open chimpanzees’ faces in order to conduct taste tests and force-feeding chemicals to rats to test “caramel color.”
In 2001 the 500 million dollar lawsuit, Sinaltrainal v. Coca-Cola was filed in the Florida Third District Court of Appeal, which alleged that Panamco, a Colombian Coca-Cola bottling company, assisted in murdering several union members. In 2003 Coca-Cola was found not liable, although an attempted boycott was made under the name "Stop Killer Coke."
