The feature that previously allowed users to pause their internet subscription at no cost would be removed, replacing it with a new feature called "Standby Mode." This alternative feature allows users to maintain low speed internet access, with speeds around 500kb/s for $5USD a month. '''<big>Price Increase (''2026'')</big>'''
In May 2026, Starlink alerted a group of Starlink Mini customers that the price of the 'Standby Mode' was being increased to $10/month. Customers wishing to utilize their Starlink intermittently, as was part of the original feature set when purchased, are now forced to either pay $10/month or cancel their account and subscription completely. The cancellation and future re-instatement of service is harder to accomplish, and especially in emergencies where access to the Starlink web site might be difficult or impossible. Many customer purchased Starlink products with the express need for a intermittent access plan, which was advertised as part of the product capability -- this capability is now, for many, too expensive.
