Micron Technology, Inc, also known simply as Micron, is an American technology company that designs and sells computer components such as dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), flash memory and solid state disks (SSDs). It was founded in 1978 in Boise, Idaho, by Ward Parkinson, Joe Parkinson, Dennis Wilson and Doug Pitman. Crucial, their consumer-targeted brand, was pretty known for their products amongst PC gamers.
Consumer-impact summary
Micron's decision to end the consumer-targeted business had caused majorly negative impact, in where several consumers had critiqued this decision. The 2025 DRAM shortage has increased the prices of these components, and the withdrawal of Crucial contributes to worsen this shortage. This also reduces the available alternatives of computer components for the consumers.
