Background[edit | edit source]
Breaking triggers[edit | edit source]
The trigger on V10 and V11 models of the Dyson cordless vacuums are very prone to breaking as the material and reinforcement of the piece is not sufficient. Recent updates to manufacturing has also restricted serviceability of the product to repair the issue.
Several third party replacements and replacement tutorials are available.[1]

The trigger has several minor reinforcements, so the weakness of the thin material used is known, but savings seem to be put in place to not extend these fortifications beyond the weakest areas.
Dyson's response[edit | edit source]
Triggers are not replaceable on their own, and require a new main body component in order to replace the trigger.[2]
Consumer response[edit | edit source]
Consumers complain that it is quite common that the trigger breaks, and the trigger itself is not sold on the Dyson website.[3]
