Hi, I've just been catching up on your post history and you've raised some good points.
With regards to the CAPTCHAs, our use of hCAPTCHA seeks to avoid the worst of the privacy issues associated with reCAPTCHA. We can see the level of spam that is attempted on the wiki, and the CAPTCHAs do a decent job of keeping it at a manageable rate (obviously not stopping it, but it means that we can keep the Wiki open to anonymous edits and maintain a non-invasive signup process -e.g. not asking for phone numbers, etc.). We generally seek to remove the requirements to fill in CAPTCHAs for users as quickly as possible after we can tell they're making good faith edits, though sometimes it does take a few days if we miss someone initially.
Some of the suggestions you posted seem like good ideas, particularly the honeypot and temporary tokens (the other two are a bit invasive), and I'll forward them to the technical folks for consideration as and when it's possible to do so.
More importantly, I've confirmed your account, so you shouldn't need to worry about CAPTCHAs any more!
Thank you for coming along, and best wishes,

Notes to self:
Why are you interested in moderating the Wiki? So that it works effectively. The first content I looked at was Brilliant, and it strikes me that there's a lot of noise on the page. The TOS eval system (by EFF) - https://OpenTermsArchive.org/en/, ToSdr.org and even its ancestor TOSback.org, handle the bulk of this stuff already, IIRC, and do a better job. Pages could just refer readers there for TOS stuff. Well.. after reading Mission Statement, I see perhaps I'm wrong about this. Perhaps. We should at least be doing a better job than previous systems at concisely communicating the shitty parts of TOS and AUP, if we're going to tackle it at all.
What do you see as the biggest non-technical problem with the Wiki or its articles at present? TBD.
What is your time availability for the role, and what tasks are you most interested in carrying out as a mod? My time is my own. I'd like to work on the most impactful parts of the wiki.
Have you read through the Wiki's policy documentation, and do you have any particular thoughts or comments on it? Nope, not yet.
Welcome! (and sorry about the CAPTCHAs)[edit source]
