Data predictions (2012)

In 2012, Target predicted a teen pregnancy before her parents did. This was done by using data analytics and learning shopping habits and later sending coupons to her address.

Target data breach (2013)

The 2013 Target data breach was a data breach that effected most Target customers. The data breach occurred during Nov-Dec 2013 and affected over 40 million customers information most notably their debit/credit cards.

Biometric data collection (2024)

Target often extensively collects biometric information inside their stores and online. A lawsuit was filed in April of 2024 against Target Corporation for collecting and sharing data without her consent.

Target has also been criticized due to lack of transparency of their privacy practices.
