Introduction of subscription model (2020—)

On 27 July 2020, Wink introduced a subscription model for their previously subscription-free Smarthome Hub.[1][2]

Users who do not sign up will be restricted to limited functionality, including local control over select devices, such as those found in the Lights + Power menu, as well as Z-Wave connected Locks.

Features no longer available without signing up

User will no longer have access to:[2]

  • Cloud and API control (voice, remote app control, third-party integrations)
  • Groups
  • Robots
  • Shortcuts
  • Activity
  • Advanced Hub settings

Users will have no longer the ability to:[2]

  • View, add, delete or rename codes
  • Add devices
  • Change icons and edit device names
  • View or add saved locations
  • Share and unshare devices
  • Update hub and relay firmware
