In November 2018 Pearson's digital tool "aimswebPlus", which monitored academic progress of students, was hacked. This leaked student data from 13,000 schools and one million college students.[2] Pearson's wasn't informed about this until March 2019 after an FBI Investigation, and only made a public statement about it months later in July 2019. In the since deleted statement[3] Scott Overland said "The exposed data was isolated to first name, last name, and in some instances may include date of birth and/or email address."
