Kwik Trip Cybersecurity incident
On October 9, 2023, Kwik Trip was hacked that resulted in their website and Kwik Trip Rewards app being nonoperational for 2 weeks and causing milk and bread shortages.[2] The company initially responded saying it was a cybersecurity incident via a post and sent a letter to all possible infected customers.[3][4][5]
"Although a thorough investigation is ongoing and further information may be uncovered, current findings indicate that we experiences a cybersecurity incident that caused disruption to systems located on our internal network on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023. The incident was detected within hours and mitigation efforts began immediately with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts,"[6]
Although the company said no financial information was stolen, it wasn't disclosed who the original perpetrators was, or how many customers were affected.
