In 2014, Yum Brands, along with other fast food companies like McDonald's and Starbucks, discovered that their china meat supplier, Shanghai Husi Food Co., supplied them with expired or rotten meat, resulting in a revenue drop of 10% as a result of this incident.[2][3] Yum Brands responded by issuing an apology to customers, offering rewards to Chinese whistleblowers for exposing safety violations, and requiring Chinese managers review suppliers regularly.[4]
