I purchased Need For Speed hot Pursuit circa 2010-2011. I bought the physical DVD and still have it, complete with Key Code. I think it was about 4 yrs ago I tried to play it but it wouldn't work. I called tech Support and they told me the servers were shut down and the game would not run without the servers.

Game will not work with access to serves, which were shut down, even though I didn't use online services for the game and played solo, they still said it needed server access to work but all servers were shut down and no way I could play the game at all.

I was appalled that a game I purchased can be shut down at the whim of the publisher. I wasn't the only one either. I still have the game in its case with the booklet and the key printed on the back of the booklet. I told them it'd be a cold day in hell when I'd buy another EA game.
